How to prevent HIV

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. This virus attacks the immune system and weakens the body's ability to fight infections and diseases. HIV can not be cured, but there are treatments that can be used to slow the progression of the disease.
Here are some ways to prevent getting HIV:

  1. Avoid having sex with someone who is not our partner.
  2. Consider Truvada drugs in July 2012, Food and Drug (Truvada) agreed to reduce the risk of HIV infection and other infectious diseases in those at high risk.
  3. When used to help prevent HIV infection, Truvada is only right if your doctor believes you have not been infected with the HIV virus. Doctors should also test for hepatitis B infection. If you have hepatitis B, your doctor should test your kidney function before prescribing truvada.
  4. Avoid using drugs by injecting them into the bloodstream.
  5. Men should consider circumcision, because it will reduce the risk of HIV AIDS transmission.
  6. Be vigilant about the use of hypodermic needles during blood transfusions held by unclear organizations.
  7. Always use sterile medical devices.
